Changes for the 2020/21 Season

The 2019 season of Big Slick Poker Circuit was one of our biggest ever! We tried a few new things that were well received and they will remain as is. For 2020/21, we've implemented a few key changes:

1.  Eliminated re-buys. Since re-buys were introduced in 2018, we had an average of 88% of all first-hour knockouts opting to re-buy. While re-buys were popular, some felt they impacted play too much during the first hour and others didn't like that those who re-bought still got full points for knockouts. In 2019, we kept re-buys but adjusted the scoring method, and play actually tightened up during the first hour with fewer knockouts. In this year's survey, most players voted to remove re-buys, and with that, we are happy to say re-buys have been retired.

2.  Adjusted betting schedule. A few players mentioned they would like to see another early blind level while others felt the final table was too much of an all-in fest. Other players wanted to see more levels as well, so we added in a level early in the game and another later on.

3.  No change to buy-in or starting stack. The buy-in and starting stack will remain the same. We took a pulse check for increasing the buy-in and starting stack for 2020/21. This was a popular option and we strongly considered it, but decided to just increase the number of blinds. Think of it this way, you get two more levels of play for the same buy-in and starting stack as last year. We also want to see how adjusting the blind structure will address overall play and final table action before considering any further changes.

4.  Player etiquette. A few players expressed concerns regarding smoking and loud or disruptive players. We are respectful of players seated indoors, and we should extend the same courtesy for players seated outdoors, so we've updated the rules to reflect no smoking for outside tables. We all love to have a great time, and we love seeing eliminated players stay to play cash, cheer on their buddies, or just to hang out, but please remember the courtesy we extend to other players while at the table also applies when not seated at the table.

Other minor rule changes have been made for the 2020/21 season as well. Make sure you read the OFFICIAL RULES before you RSVP!
